Jason and Travis Kelce are at odds when it comes to Lionel Messi's time at Inter Miami.

The Argentine World Cup-winning star made the move to MLS in 2023 where he immediately established himself as the league's best player.

The 36-year-old Messi is still operating at a high level and contributing sack loads of goals and assists, but Jason thinks it's incomparable to his time in Europe and on international duty.

"I'll tell you what though, Messi played in Kansas City this past weekend,'" Travis said on a recent episode of the NFL brothers' award-winning 'New Heights' podcast.

"He played in Arrowhead, actually."

"It's not the same being in the MLS," the legendary Eagles center responded as Travis said, "don’t s*** on MLS".

“I'm not sh***ing on MLS," Jason replied.

"I'm saying it's not international soccer. When you think of soccer, I know there's all these wonderful clubs overseas, there's the MLS, I think of the World Cup, that's all I'm saying.

"It's international play and then everything else.

"I didn't say I won't watch it (MLS). I'm just saying it wasn't the same level. "

Jason reiterated his stance that Major League Soccer is not at the same level as Leo's previous competitions.

He likened Messi's situation in Florida to watching Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan playing golf.

"Seeing Messi play for Miami is not the same as when he played in Barcelona or when he was at the world stage at the World Cup. That's all I'm saying - it's not the same.," Jason went on.

"Seeing Michael Jordan on the golf course is not the same as seeing Jordan in a Bulls uniform. You see one person on the biggest stage possible, with the biggest team in history. This is the best soccer player at the World Cup. That's different than seeing Lionel Messi tearing it up in Kansas City, just saying.

Travis continued to defend Messi's time in MLS, comparing it to Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic's stint with the LA Galaxy between 2018-2020.

"Dude, it's the same - it's Lionel Messi," Travis said.

"It was the same as when Ibrahimovic went f***ing crazy in LA. It's great, it's electric. He made the MLS fun to watch."

"I'm not saying it's not good for MLS, I'm not saying it's not great, I'm saying it's not as good, "Jason replied.

"I'm not saying it sucks that he's playing in Miami, it's awesome for the MLS, it's great for American soccer.

"I'm just saying it's nowhere near when he scores a goal for Argentina and the entire country is erupting and cheers because it means more to Argentina than any other sport on the planet."

The official New Heights account posted a clip of the conversation on Instagram and fans seemed to agree with Jason's analogy.

"Jason wins this argument," said one fan.

"As an Argentinian, 100% agreed with Jason," wrote another.

"It's like watching Jordan at the Wizards instead of the Bulls," a third responded.

Others joked Messi's time with Inter Miami is like Jason appearing at WrestleMania.

"Seeing Jason appear at WrestleMania is not the same as seeing Jason in the Super Bowl," someone remarked.

Messi made an immediate impact on the Herons when he joined the franchise last year

They won the inaugural Leagues Cup - the club's first trophy - and made the US Open Cup Final.

This season, the star has five goals and five assists for the high-flying Herons.

One of those goals came in a 3-2 win against Sporting KC in front of Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes - who met Messi before the game.

Inter Miami are on course to make the MLS playoffs and sit atop the Eastern Conference with 18 points from ten games.
