Premier League club reveal asking price for Leeds, Forest and West Brom linked front-man

Many clubs from England’s second tier are always on the look out for reinforcements in the January sales, especially the ones available at a bargain price, but sometimes the owners of the assets place a price on their property that acts as a repellent to potential suitors. Will there be someone willing to pay over the odds?

When Dwight Gayle played the entire Championship campaign for West Bromwich Albion last time out, he managed a very impressive haul of twenty three goals from thirty nine Championship appearances, this coupled with a further two assists to add to his high standard of performances.

However, the striker returned to his parent club, Newcastle United, who appear to be turning their noses up at the players services again this season under the stewardship of Steve Bruce, so his availability is now being questioned again ahead of the January transfer window.

Rumours are not uncommon for Gayle to rejoin a Championship club in January, but a report from The Yorkshire Evening post revealing Newcastle’s asking price may well play a large part in his next destination should he again be uprooted this Winter.

Perhaps the favourites for his services would be West Brom, judging by the successful relationship he enjoyed with them last season, but the Baggies have already spend big on strikers this season, with Cardiff man Kenneth Zohore joining in the summer and Charlie Austin joining the midland outfit from Premier League club Southampton, both of which will also be on a decent chunk as wages.

Other parties interested in Gayle would be Nottingham Forest, who have been reportedly linked quite a lot during the season so far and could quite possibly weigh up a permanent move in January.

Leeds United have also been credited in recent times with the 28-year-old hit-man, but for all the clubs above, an asking price of around £15m could well have them re-buff their interest and direct it in a different direction as they look to bulk up their striking options for the run-in after Christmas.

Will this amount be too much to justify for the mentioned clubs or is Dwight Gayle worth that amount… especially if he is the difference between gaining promotion to the Premier League or not?
